Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Fastlane (“we,” “us”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Fastlane website, waitlist, beta product, and any related services (the “Service”).
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways:
- Information you give us. When you join the waitlist you provide your email address. When you use the beta you submit shopping prompts (for example, descriptions of vehicles you are looking for) and may interact with results.
- Information collected automatically. When you use the Service we automatically receive standard log information including your IP address (which we store only as a salted, irreversible hash), browser user-agent string, the referring URL, and basic event timestamps.
- Information from third parties. Our beta uses large language models to surface vehicle listings and may use search providers to return real-time data. We do not purchase contact data about you.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Service;
- Send you transactional and product email — for example, to confirm your waitlist signup or to notify you when Fastlane opens to you;
- Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents;
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your shopping prompts to train models for third parties.
3. Sharing of Information
We share information only with:
- Service providers that help us operate the Service — including our hosting provider, our managed Postgres provider, our email-delivery provider, and our AI model provider (currently Anthropic). These providers are bound to use the information only as needed to provide their services to us.
- Dealers and other counterparties when, in the future, you explicitly direct Fastlane to act on your behalf to inquire about or negotiate a vehicle.
- Authorities or other parties when required by law, to respond to lawful requests, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Fastlane, our users, or others.
- In a corporate transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case you will be notified.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use a minimal number of strictly necessary cookies and local storage to operate the Service (for example, to remember session state). We do not currently use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
5. Data Retention
We keep waitlist email addresses until you ask us to delete them or we determine they are no longer needed for the purposes for which they were collected. Beta query logs are retained for a rolling period (typically 90 days) for product improvement and abuse prevention, after which they are deleted or aggregated.
6. Security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including TLS for all connections and encryption at rest for our database. No system is perfectly secure; if you become aware of a vulnerability, please email us at the address below.
7. Your Choices & Rights
You can at any time:
- Unsubscribe from our emails using the link in any email we send;
- Request that we delete your waitlist entry or any other personal data we hold about you;
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you in a common, portable format.
Residents of California (CCPA/CPRA), the EU/EEA and UK (GDPR), and other jurisdictions may have additional rights, including the right to object to certain processing. Contact us using the details below and we will honor them.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. International Users
Fastlane is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, give you additional notice.
